Our History

1. Books about playing the organ.

In 2001 an organist who wanted a drawbar organ was quietly driving us crazy with complaints about the new Rodgers organ that her church had chosen.  Calling once or twice a week, we tired of driving out there.  Instead we wrote a book using music examples to introduce the use of the features of the organ and delivered a copy to her.  That way when she called with a complaint we was able to say, "Let’s turn to page X in the book we gave you.” and avoided yet another trip.*

That book, and quite a few others, have guided Rodgers organists through the years and still do, for older and current organs that were designed by Rodgers/Roland are still being shipped and sold, including the Masterpiece series.  See all the books here.

We also published books of hymn preludes and books on playing hymns.

Many are unaware that we created one of the first CD’s about Tuning Temperaments using the Rodgers organ.

We also maintain a  Rodgers Organ User’s Group where you can get help and ask questions. Recently we added a Facebook  group: Used Rodgers & Roland Church Organs, Keyboards and Parts.

Bach By Immersion by the late James Pressler - the entire organ works of Bach for the Rodgers Organ by a disabled organist, no longer able to play - includes practice files for all of them.

2. MIDI Equipment, including refurbishing the PR-300 and Books about Using MIDI with Church Organs

The Rodgers PR-300 MIDI Module appeared in 1992  and sort of stumped us at first.  I was given on and it sat on a shelf for 6 months until I met with Lauren Gadd, who was and is an active composer.  Together we composed music for organist’s to play live, accompanied by a MIDI orchestra.  We also collaborated on books about using the Rodgers MIDI modules.  Though it’s been about 10 years since Rodgers offered MIDI Modules, we are still quite busy with MIDI.  We’ve even got books on Kindle now.

The Rodgers PR-300 Floppy Disk Emulator USB Drive As PR-300 models began to display failures of the floppy disk drives a few years back and there were no replacements available. We were able to collaborate with an engineer in the Ukraine and ever since then have been able to replace the floppy disk drives with a USB drive.

At this point we also have the largest inventory of PR-300 parts in the US making it possible for us to repair them as well.

Our shop also replaces floppy drives in YAMAHA MDF-3 Sequencers with the USB drive, an older sequencer also popular with organists.

The Syndyne Pro-Filer is the first choice of organists today and now has a remote control.

3. MIDI Hymns

Churches losing organists and not able to find a replacement call us for help and we have a library of hymns available to be used through MIDI. We are able to assist them in getting set up with a PR-300 or even an iPad to get this working for them.

4. Catholic Church Music for Gregorian Chant, Organ and Choirs

Following time spent as director music of a Catholic church whose entire music library was a file cabinet of illegally-copied music,  we found myself with a thick three ring binder of choral music that I had legally downloaded and copied.  As a result of that, we were able create a free book of choral music and hymns that has been shared around the world as a PDF.

We found that we could have it printed and shipped to churches for less that they would have to pay to have copies made themselves, and  are able to sell it on our www.sacredmusiclibrary.com site and on Amazon.

Our involvement has grown into the Sacred Music Library with books on AMAZON and KINDLE.

On Facebook we sponsor the Catholic Organist’s Page.

*We should have known that she was going to be a problem when, during the presentation to the organ committee, they stopped us and right in front of her voted NOT to buy a drawbar organ.
