GAITED MORGAN MARE
Sadie is the only Gaited foal of Miner’s, and the only Gaited Morgan that we have available.
At this point, we'd like to make it clear that we are not gaited horse people, so we are not sure what her gait is...but for the first 6 weeks of her life she paced until she finally began to trot.
Sadie is a Black mare, but as you can see she bleaches out in the strong Summer sun. Sadie also has dapples. Like Jaxx and Wilbur, she was imprinted at birth, and has been ground-driven.
Gaited Morgans are fairly rare. Most modern Morgan breeders do not breed for a singlefoot gait. For those who do, or for those who love Morgans and prefer a gaited horse, may be a jewel running in her field.
According to another site, {www.gaitedhorses.net} regarding gaited Morgans, there is a breed profile of a gaited Morgan listed: They look for Morgan type and conformation which does not depart from the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) Standard of Perfection, substance, temperament, and beauty, in a gaited horse. A gaited Morgan would perform a singlefoot gait including the possibility of all four beat gaits, i.e. running walk, rack, stepping pace and foxtrot. Unofficial breed estimates state that from 15 to 20% of all Morgans perform some sort of intermediate gait.
[we have also been rather indelicately told by people that, without seeing her, that she is definitely not gaited, but their horses are. Strange.]
Sadie is at Frog Farm in Englewood, TN.
She’s looking for a home that appreciates her gait.
