SYSEX

Commands that are inserted into Standard MIDI Event Files. They are instrument specific. Inserting a Roland® or Rodgers® SYSEX command means that only a Roland® or Rodgers® instrument will read the instructions and act on them.

In this case they are used to set and change stop registrations.

Three list members have written programs.

PR-300™ Ticks Per Quarter Note - .exe

Robert Brodine

This is a JAVA program. Run it from a Browser program on your computer such as Internet Explorer or Netscape with JAVA enabled.

Conceived for a 790C, the programming is straightforward and it would not be difficult to add the stop list for your organ.

Thank you very much for the page presenting SysEx Calculators. It is invaluable!

I revamped Robert Brodine's excellent SysEx page to make it easier for me to understand and change. Please add my version to your page if you think it could be useful to anyone. It was tested in Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla 1.5. To avoid confusion both Robert's page and my page are
written using JavaScript not JAVA.

Personally, I had given up ever trying to figure out SYSEX until these two programs crossed my desk. While I still can't do the math (as I recall there is a checksum involved) now at least I can see what goes in and comes out! Thank you Jim and Robert!
